11/21/2019 – The 2019 George Bush Award For Excellence in Public Service Presented to Former British Prime Minister Sir John Major

The George & Barbara Bush Foundation presented its 2019 George Bush Award for Excellence in Public Service to the former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom, Sir John Major, on Thursday, November 21st at the Post Oak Hotel in Houston. Former U.S. Secretary of State James A. Baker, III presented the award at the start of the Bush Foundation’s 10th anniversary Vintner Dinner – the organization’s leading fundraising event of the year.

11/08/2019 – Union Pacific Officially Announces It Will Donate Its 4141 Locomotive for Permanent Display at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center

On Friday, November 8th, Union Pacific officially announced it is donating the UP No. 4141 George Bush Locomotive for permanent display at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum. Scott Moore, UP’s senior vice president for corporate relations and chief administrative officer, made the announcement at an invitation-only, trackside media event in front of 40 Bush Foundation guests and the 4141 Locomotive itself. 11/06/2019 – 30 Years Later: Lessons from the Fall of the Berlin Wall

On Wednesday, November 6th, the George & Barbara Bush Foundation and the Ronald Reagan Presidential Foundation & Institute co-hosted, together with the Atlantic Council and Georgetown University, a program marking the 30th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin Wall in 1989. The two-hour event, held in Georgetown’s Gaston Hall, was moderated by former ABC News anchor Sam Donaldson and Dean Joel Hellman of Georgetown’s School of Foreign Service, and featured welcoming remarks from former Secretary of State James A. Baker, III.

9/27/2019 – 30th Anniversary Celebration of President Bush’s Education Summit

On September 27, more than a thousand people assembled in UNE’s Harold Alfond Forum on the Biddeford Campus to witness President Bill Clinton and former Governor Jeb Bush participate in a moderated discussion in commemoration of the 30th anniversary of President George H.W. Bush’s Education Summit, held at the University of Virginia in Charlottesville in 1989.

9/16/2019 – “Calm Before the Storm: Desert Storm Diaries and Other Stories” by Marlin Fitzwater

On September 16, 2019, the George & Barbara Bush Foundation hosted Marlin Fitzwater, former Press Secretary to President George H.W. Bush, as he discussed his new book “Calm Before the Storm: Desert Storm Diaries and Other Stories” — which he dedicated to the memory of George and Barbara Bush. This fascinating book is based on the diary Marlin started keeping during the run-up to Operation Desert Storm and closes with a series of remembrances of President Bush written by some of his National Security staff and other senior officers.

6/15/19 – 95th Birthday Celebration in Honor of President George H.W. Bush

Grandkids, a skydiving demonstration and country star Lyle Lovett headlined the George & Barbara Bush Foundation’s all-day birthday celebration at the George H. W. Bush Presidential Center honoring the foundation’s namesakes 95th and 94th birthdays. The occasion marked the largest gathering of Bush family at the Bush Center since President Bush’s interment on December 6, 2018.

6/12/2019 – U.S. Postal Service Issues Forever Stamp Honoring President Bush

On President Bush’s 95th Birthday, the United States Postal Service issued the George H.W. Bush forever stamp. Warren Finch, Ambassador Chase Untermeyer, Jean Becker and Pierce Bush were among the speakers who reflected on the legacy President Bush left and the fitting nature of dedicating a stamp to someone known fondly for sending innumerable handwritten letters throughout his lifetime.

5/23/2019 – “American Spirit: Profiles in Resilience, Courage, and Faith” by Taya Kyle

On April 23, 2019 the George & Barbara Bush Foundation hosted Taya Kyle, author of her most recent book “American Spirit: Profiles in Resilience, Courage, and Faith”, as she share storied of individuals who embody the “American spirit” of resilience, faith, and togetherness that has built the nation.

5/1/2019 – “Grateful American” by Gary Sinise

Bush Foundation guests were treated to a heartwarming, special evening on May 1st when acclaimed actor and humanitarian Gary Sinise came to the Annenberg Conference Center where he discussed his New York Times-bestseller, “Grateful American: A Journey from Self to Service”, and the inspiring work of the Gary Sinise Foundation.

4/5/2019 – ConocoPhillips White House Lecture Series: An Inside look at the American Vice Presidency

On April 5th, Vice President Mike Pence and former Vice Presidents Dick Cheney and Dan Quayle discussed the modern vice presidency and shared memories of the 41st President during the 2019 CononcoPhillips White House Lecture at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center. The event featured clips from Jeff Roth’s new documentary “President in Waiting” and moderation from former ABC News White House Correspondent Ann Compton for an unforgettable evening.

2/11/2019 – Presidents Day Celebration Honoring the 41st President of the United States

On February 11, 2019  guests gathered to celebrate Presidents Days by honoring the life of President George H.W. Bush. The program featured a panel between Jean Becker, Andrew Card, and Ambassador Andrew Natios (moderator). Ms. Becker and Mr. Card shared their unique experiences and insights during the George H.W. Bush’s White House, as well as how the administration functioned, and President Bush’s legendary style of leadership.

1/29/2019 – “Churchill: Walking with Destiny” by Andrew Roberts

Andrew Roberts, bestselling author, discussed his new book Churchill: Walking with Destiny at the Annenberg Presidential Conference Center on January 29, 2019.

In Churchill: Walking with Destiny, Roberts depicts Churchill “as a hero who saved civilization from the evils of Nazism and warned of the grave crimes of Soviet communism”, while also revealing “that he has as much to teach us about the challenges leaders face today–and the fundamental values of courage, tenacity, leadership and moral conviction.”

1/23/2019 – Harvard University and Texas A&M University Choirs Combined Concert

On January 23, 2019 the Harvard University and Texas A&M choirs came together for a combined concert. The concert featured the Harvard Glee Club, Texas A&M Singing Cadets, Radcliffe Choral Society, and Texas A&M Women’s Chorus. Preforming classical and traditional favorites, all choirs combined brought the audience to their feet.
